Hello and welcome to Physiopet. I'm Josie McKnight the owner of the company. I qualified as a veterinary surgeon in 1999 at Glasgow University and developed an interest in pain management and acupuncture about nine years ago. I have used acupuncture widely and successfully since then to treat chronic and acute pain. I have had some rather strange patients (including a rat with knee arthritis and a skunk with lumbo-sacral disease!!) My interest in this field led me into Veterinary Physiotherapy and I completed my Post Graduate Diploma in Veterinary Physiotherapy in 2011 at Harper Adams University.
I am a member of the ABVA (Association of British Veterinary Acupuncture), ASSVAP (Association for the Scientific Study of Veterinary and Animal Physiotherapy) and the BVA (British Veterinary Association).
I have two lovely dogs (who you will see posing throughout the website). Poppy, my older lurcher is a chronic arthritic whom I actively manage with both conventional veterinary medicine and physiotherapeutic techniques. I still practice as a vet but I am passionate about the incorporation of physiotherapy into general practice and the education of clients in how they can help their pets at home either with arthritis or with recuperation from injury or surgery.
Please feel free to browse through the website to gain an idea of what I do and don't hesitate to mail me or call if you have a query.
